Neither option is better for every pet. But if your pet gets stressed easily, a few differences are worth knowing about.
What a salon day looks like
At many salons, pets are dropped off, wait in a crate, and are groomed in a room with other animals. Some pets are fine with this, and many salons do excellent work. But the noise, the other animals and the wait can be hard on nervous pets.
What mobile grooming changes
- No car ride or carrier
- One pet at a time, with no other animals around
- Less time away from home
- Convenient for people with busy schedules or limited mobility
- Often calmer for cats, seniors and anxious dogs
What to ask any groomer
- How do you handle a pet that gets scared?
- Will my pet be groomed one-on-one?
- How long will the appointment take?
- How do you handle mats and nails?
A good groomer will answer plainly and tell you if your pet isn't a good fit. For some pets, especially aggressive or medically fragile ones, a vet's office may be a better place to start.
